Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell has announced the indictment of social media influencer Brett Carlin for reckless driving and leading police on high-speed pursuits. According to a press release on the Maricopa County Attorney's Office official website, Carlin's indictment includes two counts of Unlawful Flight from a Law Enforcement Vehicle, deemed a Class Five Felony, and two counts of Reckless Driving, classified as a Class Two Misdemeanor.
The incidents, which Carlin filmed and posted online, show him on his motorcycle reaching speeds exceeding 180 miles per hour, all while carelessly weaving through traffic on the Loop 101. Authorities were quick to intervene, attempting to safely bring an end to the dangerous exhibitions. In one instance, Carlin's actions did prompt law enforcement officials to actively chase him, as reported by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
The bond has been set at a secured $20,000 appearance fee. As per legal protocol, Carlin would need to pay 10% of this bond in cash and provide the rest in collateral to secure release from custody. Footage of Carlin's recklessness and subsequent arrest has been made available by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, as per the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
