The Marion County Sheriff's Office has issued a call for information on Lionel A. May, a 44-year-old Black male with a prior conviction of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, in their ongoing efforts to enforce sex offender registration laws in Indiana. As described in an official social media post by the Marion County Sheriff's Office (IN)'s Post, May stands accused of failing to comply with registration requirements under cause number 49G04-1910-F5-040827 – a breach of state law that has led to his current wanted status.
An account of May's previous conviction dates back to April 12, 2010, for an offense committed in Madison County, Indiana, recorded under cause number 48D01-0907-FC-122, which led to his classification as a sex offender; he is approximately 6'2" tall, weighs roughly 171 pounds, and is distinguished by his black hair and brown eyes, and was born on August 2, 1981, the law enforcement agency has been highlighting non-compliant sex offenders in their Monday Morning Roundup, noting that while many questions arise as to why these individuals are not registered, these offenders previously met registration conditions but are currently in violation of them.
The Sheriff's Office maintains a steadfast zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance among sex offenders, emphasizing that such individuals are obligated to report changes, such as a new address, employment, or vehicle change; failure to do so results in a warrant for their arrest for being non-compliant. The general public is encouraged to assist by contacting legal authorities or by making an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477), and Lionel May himself has the option to reach out to the department through 317-327-SAFE (7233) should he choose to turn himself in.
