A tragedy unfolded on Alcoa roadways earlier this week when a Maryville man lost his life in a vehicle accident. WVLT reported that at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, James Brooks, age 36, was driving northbound when, for reasons yet uncertain, his truck veered off Hall Road and struck a tree in the median. The aftermath ensued with the vehicle coming to a halt in the northbound traffic lanes.

Interviews with witnesses by the Alcoa Police Department and first responders at the chaotic scene described that upon their arrival, Brooks was found unresponsive. In the process of conducting their investigation, shortly after being rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, it was where Brooks's death was confirmed, according to a statement obtained by WATE. The crash's cause is yet to be determined as the APD continues its inquiry into what led up to the fatal incident.

The unfortunate event resulted in a significant disruption for other motorists. WBIR detailed that the northbound lanes of Hall Road were closed for several hours as emergency crews worked the scene and began their preliminary investigations into the crash.

Alcoa Police Department is now seeking assistance from the public in piecing together the events leading up to the crash. They are urging anyone with information to call 865-981-4111 and request Lt. Daniel Brooks, who a police spokesperson noted bears no relation to the deceased.
