An 18-year-old man from Maryville, Zander Lewis, tragically lost his life in a car crash on Wildwood Road in Blount County this past Sunday night. As reported by WATE, the Blount County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the accident near Jameswood Drive around 10:15 p.m.
Driving westward, Lewis's car, according to the sheriff's office crash report, veered off the road to the left. The crash report, as detailed by WBIR, said the vehicle first hit a concrete culvert. Following the initial impact, the car overturned in a driveway, went into a ditch, and struck a tree.
Debris from the crash caused additional hazards; a wheel from Lewis's car detached during the incident and hit a witness's vehicle approximately 100 yards away. This information was included in the reports from WVLT News, which also mentioned that it had been raining at the time of the crash and that Lewis was reportedly driving too fast for the road conditions.
