On Wednesday, the Memphis neighborhood was the scene of a grim discovery, as the Memphis Safe Task Force responded to a shooting on Helsley Street. There, a female victim was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The initial investigation turned chaotic when an officer suffered a non-critical injury due to a dog bite, necessitating hospital transport, and a woman was taken into custody after she struck an officer while unlawfully entering the active crime scene. In a series of events that escalated quickly surrounding the original crime, reports suggest the situation on Helsley Street was tense for officers on site. After the evening’s turbulence, Task Force members identified Arsenio Davis, 36, a relative of the female victim and the primary suspect in the homicide, returning later to the residence.
Upon officers' return, Davis attempted to evade arrest by fleeing the residence, but was promptly detained, and a shocking second discovery was made inside: another deceased individual, appearing partially dismembered, was found, though their identity remains unknown at this time, as stated in the official press release.
Arsenio Davis now faces a multitude of charges including First Degree Murder and Second Degree Murder Davis, with a criminal history that includes a 2010 conviction for cocaine possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver, was found in possession of a firearm during his arrest adding to the severity of the charges in a case that continues to develop and with authorities still investigating the horrid details of the crime, his litany of charges reflect the gravity of the situation, as noted in the U.S. Marshals' press release.
