Miami Beach is set to transform its famed hotels into canvases for local artists as the "No Vacancy, Miami Beach" art competition returns. According to an announcement by the City of Miami Beach, the juried showcase invites 12 artists and collectives to participate in this year's sixth iteration, running from November 13 through December 20.

Each artist, handpicked by the City and a selection Committee, will receive a $10,000 commission to display site-specific installations in one of 12 different Miami Beach hotels. Funding for their endeavors has been generously provided by the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, MBVCA, and GMCVB, ensuring a creative outpouring to remember. In a unique twist, two awards will be given, with a public prize of $10,000 presented by GMCVB and a heftier $25,000 juried prize.

Here's the scoop on some of the participating hotels and their corresponding artists. Andrea Myers at the Avalon Hotel presents "A Soft Pixelation," featuring a patchwork of repurposed T-shirts. The iconic Betsy Egg at The Betsy Hotel transforms into "Portal to Niña" by artists Liz’N Bow. At the Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club, Denise Treizman's playful "Wish You Were Here" combines pool noodles and found objects into a striking tapestry, while Pepe Mar’s "Tropical stomping grounds" at Casa Faena offers an immersive look into 15 years of his art inspired by South Beach ephemera.

Other highlights include Edison Peñafiel’s "Florida Florarium" at The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club and Nathalie Alfonso's "BayScape—" at International Inn on the Bay, which makes the second-floor window band come alive with a light drawing. Amanda Linares explores the relationship between land and memory with "Tierra Húmeda" at The Miami Beach EDITION, and The Shelborne by Proper Hotel is home to "Wellspring" by Lee Pivnik, tracing water's journey through Florida's landscape.
