In an effort to reach out to pet owners in less-served neighborhoods of Miami-Dade County, the Animal Services Department has unveiled a new initiative with its WOW (Wellness on Wheels) Mobile Veterinary Clinic, which delivers essential pet wellness services directly to the communities in need. Funded by the Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc., the mobile clinic is a boon for those living in what are known as 'veterinary deserts' where pet healthcare may not be readily accessible, according to an announcement made by Miami-Dade County.
The clinic, a fully outfitted procession of care, rolls into different underserved areas every couple of months, and in its latest stop, it's parked in Miami Beach at 7605 Collins Avenue, right by the North Shore Branch library, from October 6 to December 23, with open doors from Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. until noon and again from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., although it does not operate from Thursday to Sunday and will be closed on county holidays.
The range of services provided by the WOW Mobile Clinic is comprehensive, offering no-cost vaccinations, boosters, deworming treatments, flea prevention, as well as referrals for spay and neuter procedures for both dogs and cats on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached, as outlined in the county's news release.
Those interested in taking advantage of the WOW Mobile's offerings are encouraged to arrive early, considering services are offered on the available to whomever shows up first basis until the daily limit is hit, and Miami-Dade Animal Services suggests staying informed on the most current clinic location and times by visiting their website or following the department's social media handle @adoptmiamipets for updates and additional information.
