As Miami heads into the final days of October, the weather forecast calls for a mix of sunshine and scattered thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service, today there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 87 degrees. East winds will range from 14 to 17 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. Tonight, there remains a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms, mainly before 2 a.m. The low will be around 77, with east winds between 9 and 13 mph.
On Monday, the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 50 percent after 8 a.m., with mostly sunny skies and a high near 86.
As the week continues, the National Weather Service forecasts a gradual decrease in rain chances, down to 20 percent by Tuesday afternoon. Conditions are expected to remain mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s. Nighttime temperatures will cool to around 68 by Wednesday night under partly cloudy skies.
A strong sea breeze is expected along Miami’s coastlines. Local 10 reports that interaction between Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean and high pressure off the Carolinas could bring winds over 30 mph, creating a very high risk of rip currents and prompting a high surf advisory through the weekend. Hurricane Melissa’s track is forecast to remain well east of South Florida.
Toward Halloween, a cold front is expected to move in, bringing slightly cooler daytime temperatures below 80 degrees and clearer skies later in the week.
