Two officers with the City of Miami Police Department were rushed to the hospital following a shooting this morning in the Allapattah neighborhood. According to Local 10, the male and female officers were responding to a gun detection report when they were both shot in their legs by what is believed to be a high-powered rifle. The shooting incident was reported to have occurred around 7:45 a.m. near Northwest 14th Avenue and 26th Street.

"We received a gun detection report at the same location, somewhere in the middle of between 14th and 15th on 26th Street," Miami Police Chief Manny Morales told reporters at the scene. The officers were then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and are considered to be in stable condition. Additional resources, including helicopter and K-9 units, were deployed to the scene following the altercation, as reported by Local 10.

In the aftermath of the shooting, a large perimeter was established by police in the area, and a man believed to be the brother of the suspected gunman was detained by officers. Further information obtained from 7News revealed that the suspect in question is barricaded within a house located between 14th and 15th avenues. During the ongoing situation, an exchange of gunfire occurred after the suspect briefly emerged from the residence, but it seems that no one was hit.

Expressing confidence in the officers' ability to handle the tense predicament, Chief Morales said in a statement obtained by 7News, "Thank God they are both in stable condition. They are both in stable conditions, they are in good spirits." Investigators at the scene did not return fire during the attack but sought cover and were promptly assisted to the hospital. As the events continue to unfold, residents have been urged to stay indoors, and travelers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
