The Milpitas Police Department reported an incident that unfolded on Thursday near the Great Mall, where a driver attempted to make a bold getaway from law enforcement. According to the social media post by the Milpitas Police Department, officers had tried to pull over a vehicle for a simple vehicle code violation on the 1000 Block of Great Mall Dr. The situation quickly escalated when the driver decided to evade the police, abandoning the car shortly after the chase began.
Despite the attempt to flee, officers were on top of the situation. The driver, adding a splash to the chase, ran into a watery embankment, only to be apprehended by the authorities. The individual, a 28-year-old from Highland, now faces numerous charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an out-of-state warrant for robbery, among others.
The passenger, a 28-year-old from Sacramento, did not manage to dodge the consequences of the ill-considered run. After being taken into custody, the passenger was met with their own set of charges: possession of narcotics and weapon violations topped off the list.
