Milton's bravest were honored in a heartfelt ceremony last Friday, where firefighter Samuel Hiatt and Capt. Ryan James grabbed the spotlight as the Milton Fire-Rescue Department celebrated their finest at City Hall. According to a report by the City of Milton's official website, Hiatt and James stood out among their peers, bagging the Firefighter of the Year and the Company Officer of the Year awards, respectively.
The event wasn't just a pat on the back for Hiatt and James, but it also recognized a slew of promotions and acts of valor within the department. Fire Chief Gabe Benmoussa got the ball rolling, highlighting the dedication and positive impact of his team. "Each of you represents the very best of who we are," he said, in a ceremony that saw the Council Chambers packed with the city's bravest and, their loved ones, as stated by the City of Milton.
Quoted on the City of Milton website, Jamison expressed his deep appreciation: "Milton is a safer and stronger city because of the people in this room." To close the ceremony, the department honored two recently retired members, Deputy Chief Mark Stephens and Captain Mark Slyman. Their long careers and leadership were celebrated, along with others who were promoted. The event highlighted how essential these men and women are—not only to Milton’s safety but also to its community spirit.
