Xcel Energy will conduct maintenance on power lines within Minnehaha Regional Park from October 13 through October 24, according to a statement from the company. The work, being carried out in partnership with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, is aimed at improving infrastructure reliability while minimizing disruption to park visitors.
During this period, sections of the park’s dog area will be closed, and the parking lot at East 54th Street and South Minnehaha Park Drive will be used as a staging area for construction equipment and vehicles. Temporary traffic control measures will be in place, and visitors should anticipate potential adjustments to regular park access routes. Xcel Energy noted that low-flying helicopters will be used as part of the maintenance process, which may cause intermittent noise in the area.
According to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, “To help us complete this project safely, please observe posted signage, stay away from construction areas, and keep children and pets out of restricted zones,” Xcel Energy said in its statement. The company added that it appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during the work.
Park visitors are advised to plan accordingly or consider exploring alternative recreation areas while maintenance is underway. Xcel Energy stated that it expects to complete the project efficiently to restore normal access as soon as possible.
