The clock is ticking down to Election Day in Minnetonka, where on Tuesday, Nov. 4, residents will step into their civic roles to choose a mayor, two at-large council members, along with casting votes for school board positions within the Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Wayzata school districts, as reported by the city's official website.
For those eager to avoid the Election Day rush, Minnetonka offers early voting options at the Minnetonka Community Center, located at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, with special extended hours scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mail-in ballots are also welcome but must be received at city hall by 5 p.m. on election night, City officials urge voters to check their polling place and familiarize themselves with a sample ballot found on the city's website to expedite the voting process.
On the day itself, polling locations will welcome voters from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and it's important to note that anyone in line at 8 p.m. will still be granted their right to vote, maintaining that thread of democracy that relies on every last voice being heard. For the first-timers or those needing to update their registration, polling places will offer on-site voter registration; simply be sure to bring proper identification.
Shifting into a rank of greater choice, Minnetonka employs ranked choice voting (RCV) for this municipal election, allowing voters to list their mayoral and council preferences in an order that best represents their priorities, although this system will not apply to school board elections, Results of the day's decisions will be shared on the city's website as soon as they are available, aggregating the voices of Minnetonka's citizens into a chorus of civic engagement.
