Authorities in Monroe County are on the lookout for inmate Cody Allen Patterson, 28, after he absconded from a work release detail early Tuesday morning. According to WVLT, Patterson reportedly severed his ankle monitor and then fled the scene in a stolen white 1998 Dodge Ram 3500, identifiable by its Tennessee license plate H321106.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office shared that Patterson was about eight months short of completing a three-year sentence for crimes including vandalism and burglary. The escapee is now wanted for felony escape and theft of a vehicle. In what appears to quickly become a multi-agency search operation, the U.S. Marshals Service has also been assisting in apprehending Patterson, as reported by 3B Media News.

Details of the incident emerged when Patterson did not report back from a work detail at GlasMasters, located on New Highway 68. "On October 7, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m., the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Cody Allen Patterson, a 28 year old white male, who was an inmate worker assigned to the GlasMasters work detail, had walked off the job site," the Monroe County Sheriff's Office explained in a statement obtained by WVLT.

Witnesses or individuals with any relevant information concerning Patterson's whereabouts are strongly encouraged to immediately come forward and contact law enforcement. Monroe County Sheriff's Office Dispatch can be reached at (423) 442-4357, and Detective Doug Mills, who is partaking directly in the search, is available at (423) 519-2476, pointed out by both WBIR and 3B Media News.
