A fatal hit-and-run incident is under investigation in St. John the Baptist Parish after the body of 66-year-old John Martin of Montz was found on LA 628 near Chaisson Lane last Friday. According to Louisiana State Police release, Martin had been missing since the evening of Tuesday last week.
Investigators determined that Martin was walking his bicycle in the eastbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Evidence suggests his body had been at the location for several days before it was discovered. An autopsy confirmed that his death resulted from a hit-and-run crash.
