Yesterday, the sprawling headquarters of Morgan Steel was transformed into an exhibition of modern manufacturing. Students and professionals could mingle, with guided tours threading through the facility's arteries, and hands-on demonstrations offering a tactile understanding of the industry's innovation. As reported by the Memphis city government, the event included educational opportunities to learn about apprenticeship programs key to grooming the next generation of skilled laborers.
"Manufacturing is the backbone of our community, and National Manufacturing Day gives us a chance to open our doors and show what modern manufacturing looks like," Jonathan Keith, CEO of Morgan Steel, told the City of Memphis. Keith's message touched on the nexus of tradition and progress, illustrating a forward direction for manufacturing in Memphis. Echoing his sentiment, Memphis Mayor Paul Young highlighted the city's premier status in crafting significant products and the burgeoning opportunities for its youth. "Memphis is best in class when it comes to building things that matter. Morgan Steel’s Manufacturing Day shows our young people they can build stronger futures here," he said.
