A multi-vehicle crash disrupted today’s commute along Interstate 40, leading to temporary closures in the eastbound lanes near Anderson Road. According to KFOR, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation closed the stretch between Anderson Road and Interstate 240, with westbound lanes also affected by traffic delays.
Despite the inconvenience suffered this morning, the roadway was cleared and opened before the day had progressed much. Following the clearance of the crash scene, where tow trucks were observed removing the damaged vehicles, KOCO detailed that I-40's eastbound traffic resumed its normal flow. The exact cause of the crash has not been disclosed as the investigations are underway.
As per NEWS9, the disruption began around 7 a.m. While officials have not yet released information regarding possible injuries, the closure caused major delays in the morning traffic flow. Westbound lanes experienced slower movement than usual as a result of the incident.
Images from the scene showed multiple vehicles with visible damage. One vehicle had front-end damage and another had rear damage, both of which were later towed. A semi-trailer with a damaged grille was also seen in the cleared eastbound lanes of the highway, which had previously been covered with debris, reported by KOCO.
