A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after colliding with a tractor-trailer on I-285 in Cobb County. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the crash occurred around 10:03 p.m. on Friday last week on the northbound side of the interstate, about half a mile south of South Atlanta Road. A white and blue 2023 Suzuki GSXR-1000 motorcycle struck the rear of a white 2019 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, throwing the rider from the bike and trapping them beneath the trailer.
A fire soon broke out, engulfing the truck and its cargo. The injured motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and investigators are working to establish whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role.
As per Atlanta News First, the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is leading the investigation. The motorcyclist’s identity and current condition have not been released, and officials have not specified how long the crash and cleanup disrupted traffic.
