The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has dropped the news that come October 20, heads up commuters, the Carroll County Route JJ bridge won't be your path anymore. This isn't a small break either – the bridge is taking a seat all the way through mid-December 2025. That's right, the project will have the bridge over West Fork Wakenda Creek, northwest of Norborne, fully off-limits as they give it a full deck replacement. You'll need to find an alternative route to skirt around this closure. And when you do, remember to buckle up and focus on the road, MoDOT's not kidding around when it comes to safety in work zones.
While construction crews are tasked with paving the way to sturdier bridges, motorists are asked to pave new paths temporarily. Alongside the Carroll County route JJ bridge, MoDOT has signed on E&C Bridge, LLC to work magic on three more bridges – it's clear they've got their hands full. Got any journeys planned on Livingston County Route D bridge over the Shoal Creek Drainage Ditch? Not from Oct. 13, you don't. And don't count on two more bridges either – both the Carroll County Route B over Sambo Creek and the Chariton County Route KK over the Little Chariton River – they're hitting the pause button come spring 2026, as confirmed by MoDOT's announcement.
MoDOT encourages drivers to stay informed about upcoming bridge projects. For updates on the Route B, Route D, Route JJ, and Route KK projects, visit MoDOT’s website. You can also sign up for email updates or call 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636) anytime for more information.
