On Tuesday, New Bedford and Worcester police executed a search warrant at an apartment on Nemasket Place, seizing a Taurus .38 Special revolver and various drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, Percocet, codeine, and marijuana. The operation targeted 27-year-old Carlos Sanquintin, who has a previous conviction for similar offenses, as reported by the New Bedford Police Department.
Sanquintin was arrested on charges of trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during a felony. He is in custody and facing prosecution for these offenses, as stated by the New Bedford Police Department.
Alexis Garcia-Ruberio, 27, was arrested along with Sanquintin on narcotics charges and motor vehicle infractions, according to the New Bedford Police Department on their Facebook page. "This was great work by our detectives and partner agencies," said Chief Jason Thody. "The combination of guns and narcotics poses a serious threat to our community, and this case is an example of how committed we are to keeping New Bedford safe." Police are asking the public to report criminal activity through a hotline or the New Bedford Police Department's website.
