The National Weather Service in New Orleans issued a Special Weather Statement early today, warning residents in Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi of patchy dense fog during the morning commute. Motorists, particularly those traveling along and north of the I-10 and I-12 corridors, may encounter reduced visibility down to a quarter of a mile in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
The fog is expected to clear as the day progresses. The National Weather Service advised drivers to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and stay alert for sudden visibility changes that could affect travel safety.
Later today, New Orleans is forecast to experience mostly sunny skies with highs near 79 degrees and northwest winds between 5 and 10 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with lows around 63 degrees, as per the National Weather Service.
For the week ahead, conditions will vary with a chance of showers Tuesday night (around 60%) followed by gusty winds on Wednesday and Thursday. Sunnier weather is expected to return by late week, with highs in the mid-60s.
