Attention New Orleans residents and visitors: The 600 block of Bienville Street, between Royal and Chartres Streets, is now temporarily closed. The City of New Orleans says the closure is needed for construction and will last through the end of the week. It’s part of a project to improve and strengthen the road.
According to the City of New Orleans, the construction on Bienville Street will be a full renovation. Crews from Boh Bros. will repave the entire road, fix sidewalks, add ADA curb ramps, and replace old water, sewer, and drainage lines.
To reduce inconvenience, “No Parking” signs will be posted ahead of time, and drivers are asked to follow the rules for everyone’s safety. The City of New Orleans will have signs and traffic controls to guide both drivers and pedestrians. Work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., so plan your travel around those hours. "Safety is our top priority," the City of New Orleans statement reads, reflecting the sentiment behind these meticulous closures and the attention to detail being applied to the Exchange Alley area's refurbishment.
