The New Orleans Police Department has confirmed the arrest of two suspects connected to a recent homicide on Bourbon Street. In a public announcement, NOPD detailed the events leading to the detentions and the ongoing investigation into the matters occurred on Sunday. NOPD News reports that the suspects, Mekhi Jarius Andry and Dontrell Bradley, both 20, were apprehended following a violent altercation that resulted in multiple shootings and one fatality.

According to the NOPD, officers responded to gunfire on Bourbon Street around 2:22 a.m. and found three individuals with gunshot wounds; two women and one man. While one woman succumbed her injuries at the scene, the others were rushed to the hospital. A third woman was later found injured near the intersection of Saint Charles Avenue and Canal Street. Andry, who NOPD identifies as the initial instigator, was taken into custody in Jefferson Parish, while Bradley, wounded in the exchange, is under police watch at a hospital.

The investigation led detectives to pinpoint Andry as the one who fired the first shots at Bradley, who was struck and allegedly returned fire in self-defense. NOPD has disclosed that Andry is set to face charges including one count of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder, following extradition to the Orleans Justice Center. "Mekhi Jarius Andry ... was taken into custody this morning (September 30, 2025) ..., " disclosed NOPD in an official statement.

Bradley's custody entails pending probation warrants from Texas relating to an aggravated assault charge and an existing warrant in Orleans Parish for possessing a firearm as a felon. Once his condition allows, Bradley will also be taken to the Orleans Justice Center. NOPD continues to collaborate with the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office as they build the case against both suspects, ensuring that the wheels of justice grinds forward.

Witnesses or those with pertinent information about the incident are encouraged to reach out to the NOPD Homicide Section. "Anyone with additional information that can assist in this ongoing investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300," advises the department's news release.
