The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), along with other public safety agencies, managed NBA YoungBoy's two-night concert series at the Smoothie King Center without significant incidents.
According to a New Orleans Police Department news release, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick stated that officers maintained safety through full staffing, covering both interior and exterior areas of the venue. The plan included marked units, bike and foot teams, pre-staged traffic patterns, designated crowd lanes, and aerial surveillance with drones to manage crowds and traffic.
Local fire and medical services, as well as state and federal law enforcement partners, supported the event. Birmingham Chief of Police Michael Pickett observed the operations to inform security planning for a similar event in his jurisdiction. The New Orleans Police Department also acknowledged support from regional partners, including the Atlanta Police Department, for providing intelligence and guidance.
