The New Orleans Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that unfolded in the city's Seventh District. The crime, which took place yesterday, was located in the 7000 block of West Renaissance Court. Officers responded to a distressing alert of a shooting on the 12900 block of Ashland Drive at approximately 5:43 p.m, a report from NOPD News detailed.
Upon arriving, authorities encountered a grim scene: a sedan had collided with a parked vehicle outside of a residence. Inside the wrecked car, the NOPD found a male adult suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. As disclosed by the original NOPD News report, the confrontation that led to his injuries, appeared to have occurred nearby, prior to the crash.
The investigation is moving forward, with NOPD officers energetically gathering evidence and information that might shine a light on who is responsible for this deed, as well as why it was carried out. As of now, specifics are scanty, as the investigation proceeds.
An important piece in the puzzle, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office, will determine the victim's identity along with the official cause of death once an autopsy is completed and the next of kin are notified.
