
The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has released its latest crime statistics, showing a decrease in firearm-related arrests and seizures between Sunday to Saturday last week. According to the New Orleans Police Department news release, there have been 215 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm so far this year, a 42% drop compared to 368 during the same period in 2024.
Gun seizures have also declined. The New Orleans Police Department reports confiscating 1,501 firearms through criminal investigations this year, representing an 18% decrease from 1,827 during the same timeframe last year.
The data, provided by the NOPD Analytics Unit, reflects ongoing efforts to address gun-related crime across the city.
