The City of New Orleans and Operation Restoration have partnered with the MacArthur Foundation’s Safety & Justice Challenge to address the increasing incarceration rates among women. According to an announcement from the City of New Orleans, the collaboration will host a Women’s Justice Pathways Mapping Session led by the Women’s Justice Institute (WJI). The event will bring together community leaders, public safety officials, and women from organizations such as Voice of the Experienced (VOTE) and Women With A Vision.
The session aims to gather insights from individuals directly affected by incarceration and promote collaboration among community stakeholders. The City of New Orleans stated that the initiative is designed to develop solutions based on lived experience and cross-sector expertise.
Scheduled for September 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Medical Center, the event will focus on identifying strategies to support women, children, and communities impacted by incarceration.
