Florissant residents who regularly enjoy the amenities at St. Ferdinand Park will be greeted by a new sight near the soccer field. The City of Florissant announced on its social media platforms that a brand-new shed has been erected, serving as an essential upgrade from its predecessor that met an untimely fate amid the March storms. In a post on their Facebook page, City of Florissant Parks and Recreation shared, "If you're wandering around St. Ferdinand Park, you may notice that a new shed popped up in the back corner near the soccer field!" They further explained that "This shed is a much-needed upgrade from the previous shed that was blown into the pond during the storms in March."
The construction of the shed was a response to not only replace what nature had taken but also to enhance the park's facilities. The previous shed, which had been destroyed, was reported to have been a storage staple for sports equipment and maintenance tools. According to the Facebook announcement, "This shed was completed just last week!" This swift reconstruction represents the community's resilience and the city's commitment to quickly restore and improve public spaces for its citizens.
The new shed is expected to not only hold up better against future inclement weather but also to provide a modernized space for park-goers and staff alike. Its completion just in time for winter will likely be appreciated by park officials and sports enthusiasts, who will no longer need to worry as much about equipment storage during off-season.
