The fugitive hailing from North Carolina accused of a brutal double murder has been captured in Port St. Lucie, authorities confirmed today. The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) stated that they received intelligence suggesting the suspect, Alvaro Luis Ozuna Sierra, was within the region, prompting their action.
Early this morning, PSLPD officers intercepted Ozuna Sierra's Nissan Altima near the juncture of SE Port St. Lucie Blvd. and SE Bayshore Dr., as reported by CBS12. The traffic stop was enacted, and Ozuna Sierra was detained on suspicion of his involvement in the homicides in Mecklenburg County, Gastonia.
Ozuna Sierra, aged 38, was found in possession of a cellphone and ammunition, now seized as evidence by the PSLPD, and his vehicle was towed from the site of his arrest, according to CBS12. He currently resides in St. Lucie County Jail, held without bond awaiting extradition proceedings back to North Carolina.
The arrest operation received assistance from a K9 Unit, as detailed by a PSLPD social media post. "K9 Officer Bianco and his fur missile K9 Ciro located Sierra and his vehicle near the intersection of PSL Blvd. and SE Seafury Lane," the department boasted on Instagram. It was emphasized that the arrest was resolved "without incident," underscoring the precision with which the department executed the operation.
As it stands, the PSLPD has refrained from releasing particulars about the case or the circumstances that led to the issuance of the arrest warrants for Ozuna Sierra.
