In a recent turn of events, the Oakland Police Department's (OPD) initiative to tackle illegal drug activities led to the arrest of two individuals in East Oakland. According to a social media post by the Oakland Police Department, the arrests were made last Saturday, following community tips that directed patrol officers to the 2400 block of 77th Avenue, where suspected drug activity was taking place.
Upon arrival, officers observed two suspects attempting to exit the area quickly. One suspect was found to have ecstasy pills and marijuana prepped seemingly to be sold, while the other had marijuana. Both suspects were swiftly taken into custody.
Both the drugs and the firearm were seized, with OPD underscoring the importance of community involvement through their platforms.
