On Tuesday, around 6:13 p.m., officers responded to the Family Dollar at 2045 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW for a report of criminal trespass. When the responding officer arrived, she encountered an adult male who ran away on foot. A chase followed, and the officer found the suspect nearby at 2095 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect approached the officer, who then fired her weapon. The suspect was hit and ran to 2080 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, where medical personnel provided aid before he was taken to a local hospital for treatment, as reported by the Atlanta Police Department.
The officer suffered minor leg injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and is now leading the investigation, which remains ongoing, as per the Atlanta Police Department.
