Oklahoma City commuters continue to experience traffic disruptions as multiple construction projects narrow lanes and close ramps across major highways and streets.
According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) release, yesterday, the westbound I-40 off-ramp to Douglas Blvd. was temporarily closed from 9 a.m. to noon for guardrail repairs. Lane reductions remain in place along I-40 near Douglas Blvd. in Midwest City, with ongoing work expected to continue through most of 2025. Both directions of I-40 between I-240 and Town Center Dr. will experience continued lane closures, while eastbound I-40 at Air Depot Blvd. and the on/off-ramps at Anderson Rd. remain closed through fall.
On I-44, eastbound and westbound on-ramps at N.W. 10th St. are closed until late fall for a bridge project. In addition, I-40 will remain narrowed between Meridian Ave. and May Ave. over I-44, with nightly closures expected to continue into fall 2025. Lane restrictions also persist on I-240 at I-35 for an interchange improvement project running through 2025. Crossroads Blvd. is narrowed to one lane in each direction, and the east and westbound I-240 frontage roads are undergoing intermittent reductions.
I-35 between Memorial Rd. and US-77/2nd St. in Edmond continues to have lane closures for resurfacing, while SH-9W at I-35 is reduced to one lane in each direction through 2026 due to interchange construction. Oklahoma Department of Transportation advises motorists to consider alternate routes such as US-77 or I-44 to avoid delays.
Additional projects include lane reductions on SH-66 and US-81 in El Reno, as well as bridge replacement work on SH-9E near US-77 in Norman. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and check the Oklahoma Department of Transportation website for ongoing updates and traffic advisories.
