
A tragic incident unfolded on the Mississippi River near the Xcel Energy plant on Tuesday morning when a fishing boat carrying three men capsized, resulting in one fatality. Wright County Dispatch was notified of the situation at 10:32 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, as detailed in a report by the Wright County Sheriff's office.
The two survivors, identified as 66-year-old Mark Tasche and 18-year-old Tristan Tasche, both from Monticello, were found safely on shore by Xcel Energy personnel. However, 28-year-old Tyler Tasche was discovered unresponsive in the water. Efforts to quickly transport Tyler to shore and revive him were undertaken by the Xcel Energy staff and local first responders, but ultimately proved not to be successful.
Despite immediate life-saving attempts by Wright County deputies and emergency medical personnel, Tyler Tasche was pronounced deceased. The incident, which left the local community in shock, has prompted an active death investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, under case number 25028119.
The Wright County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with several agencies, including Monticello Fire, Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota DNR, Minnesota State Patrol, CentraCare, and Life Link Air Ambulance, conducted the search and rescue operation. According to the official statement on the Wright County website, "All persons involved in the incident were accounted for," ensuring that no others were missing or in danger following the capsizing event. The community now waits for further details to emerge from the ongoing investigation.
