Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) has marked a major milestone in its Concourse B expansion with a “topping out” ceremony, signifying the placement of the final steel beam. According to the Palm Beach County Department of Airports, the $141 million project will increase capacity, improve passenger flow, and enhance the overall travel experience.
As per the Palm Beach County website, during the ceremony, the beam—signed by Palm Beach County commissioners, project partners, and community leaders—was set into place. Laura Beebe, Director of the Palm Beach County Department of Airports, stated that the expansion represents the future of air travel in the county.
The project will add new gates, modern amenities, and upgraded concessions to accommodate growing passenger demand. Contractor Suffolk is overseeing construction while maintaining airport operations. Sam Sleiman, Executive Vice President of National Transportation at Suffolk, noted that the project highlights the company’s ability to manage complex aviation work in active terminals.
The expanded Concourse B is scheduled to open to the public in 2027. More information about the project is available at pbia.org.
