
A report of a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian was responded to by the Union City Police Department yesterday. The incident occurred at the intersection of Decoto Road and Royal Ann Drive around 6:26 AM.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 55-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle while crossing Decoto Road. First responders made immediate efforts to save the man's life; however, despite the life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the pedestrian is currently being kept confidential until the family is informed, as noted by the Union City Police Department in a statement.
While the investigation was ongoing, the driver involved in the collision was present at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. According to the Union City Police, there are no apparent signs of alcohol or drug impairment playing a role in the fatal event.
For several hours following the collision, the southbound lane of Decoto Road was closed, reopening around noon.
