Phoenix is reeling from a late-night disturbance turned deadly at an apartment near 32nd Street and Southern Avenue. In a scene where personal crisis intersected with grave violence, a woman is at the center of a homicide investigation after her ex-boyfriend was fatally shot, FOX 10 Phoenix reports. At approximately 11:25 p.m. on Oct. 10, Phoenix police responded swiftly to a reported threat.
Upon their arrival, officers were met by a woman accompanied by her children, standing outside the residence. This woman informed the authorities that she had shot her ex-boyfriend, later identified as 28-year-old Christopher Duran, who had forced entry into her apartment. Inside, officers discovered Duran unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Though he was rushed to the hospital in hope of salvation, Duran succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. "The woman later shot the man and left the apartment to meet officers," FOX 10 Phoenix outlined.
Further investigation by homicide detectives pinpointed that Duran and the woman had recently ended their relationship, leading to the fatal confrontation. Duran's forced entry that night catalyzed the tragic outcome. Details are still emerging, and the woman, thus far, has not been detained as the investigation continues. "Police say the woman has been released, but that a decision on charges would occur once the investigation is complete," ABC 15 reported.
