A Pineville man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Rapides Parish on last Saturday night. The collision occurred on Louisiana Highway 107 near Craig Path Road, according to a press release from the Louisiana State Police.
The victim, identified as 40-year-old Ramon Galbon, was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 that crossed into the opposite lane and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. Police reported that Galbon was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, who was also unrestrained, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The crash happened around 7:20 p.m. and remains under investigation. Troopers stated that impairment on Galbon’s part is a possible factor, and standard toxicology samples were collected for analysis.
The Louisiana State Police reiterated the importance of road safety, urging motorists to avoid driving while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, and to always wear seatbelts in compliance with state law.
