Placer County is extending an open invitation to residents and interested parties to the Discover & Discuss community event slated for Nov. 5, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center, located at 8318 N Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach. As reported by Placer County, the gathering offers an open-house experience focused on several significant regional projects and initiatives.
The event aims to foster a two-way conversation between Placer County staff and participants, aiming to actively listen to community feedback and to collaboratively explore potential solutions. Among the topics up for discussion are a new ordinance on single-use plastic water bottles, the workings of the Short-Term Rental Advisory Group, parking in Kings Beach, and various infrastructure projects. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to take part in the "Mapping What Matters" exercise, an opportunity to voice opinions on local opportunities and concerns.
"Events like this are key to sharing new and important information to our community and a great opportunity to get everyone involved," Placer's Deputy CEO Stephanie Holloway explained in a statement released by Placer County. Holloway emphasized the event's goal of ensuring substantial dialogue, with ample time for attendees to delve into issues that matter to them.
Furthermore, the county is taking steps to ensure accessibility for all community members. Alongside the discussions, local food truck MOGROG will provide food and beverages. Partnerships with the Sierra Community House will serve up Spanish interpretation services and a childcare station, to better to accommodate families. No preregistration is necessary for those wishing to attend, and the county encourages drop-ins at any time during the evening.
For individuals unable to attend the in-person event, Placer County has made provisions for online engagement. Many of the featured projects are open for feedback on the Engage Placer community website.
