In a social-media post, they reported a cascade of 748 incidents spanning from October 19 through October 25, detailing the various challenges officers face and the breadth of their responsibilities. From this potpourri of events, there were 15 arrests and 6 criminal complaints generated, showcasing that even in a week’s time, law enforcement remains on its toes.
Road safety appeared to be a significant concern as the officers managed 34 motor-vehicle accidents and conducted 117 traffic stops. The prevalence of vehicular incidents underscores the continuous need for vigilance on the roads, both by the drivers and the patrolling officers. Alarms, too, seemed to punctuate the airwaves with Plymouth Police responding to 33 house and building alarms. But beneath these emergencies, there were also 50 medical, mental-health, and wellness checks—a testament to the department’s commitment to the community’s holistic safety.
More than just statistics, these numbers represent myriad moments when residents’ lives intersect with those sworn to serve and protect them. Social disturbances and the darker veil of suspicious activities did not go unnoticed, with the department addressing 11 disturbances and keeping a watchful eye on 24 occurrences that raised their antennas for suspicion. Despite the gravity that such incidents carry, a somewhat lighter note graced the report with an acknowledgement of 30 accidental 911 calls, a human error so easily made in the digital age.
