The City of Portland, with Regional Arts & Culture Council and the Office of Arts & Culture, is seeking artists or artist teams to propose work for two projects at the CityFleet facilities on Swan Island, with applications due by November 24. The total budget is $300,000, split evenly between a sculpture and functional aluminum gate art, funded through the Percent for Art Program, according to the City of Portland.
The projects should "contributes to an inviting space that evokes a sense of well-being for staff and visitors" and "takes inspiration from a technologically advanced future." The installations will be part of the new vehicle maintenance facility on Swan Island, a site with industrial and indigenous histories, as reported by the City of Portland.
The City of Portland is accepting artist proposals for projects that reflect the natural, historical, industrial, or cultural aspects of the city’s islands and recognize CityFleet’s role in supporting Portland’s infrastructure. Artists can apply through the City of Portland’s official call to artists for submission guidelines and project details.
