Portland has started overnight work to install safety fencing on the NE 12th Avenue bridge over I-84, causing lane and ramp closures from October 23 to October 30. On the eastbound side, two lanes and the NE Grand Ave on-ramp will be closed on Thursday through Sunday, but at least one lane on I-84 will stay open and lanes will reopen early each morning, according to the City of Portland.
Westbound I-84 will see night closures from NE 60th Ave to NE 12th Ave from October 28 to October 30, including the NE 33rd Ave on-ramp, with reopening set for 5 a.m. NE 12th Ave itself will be closed during work hours through October 30, though one sidewalk will stay open for pedestrians and cyclists, as reported by the City of Portland.
Portland Bureau of Transportation says construction work in the Lloyd and Central Eastside areas will proceed rain or shine, though the schedule could change due to weather. “We ask the public to use alternate routes if possible,” and drivers who travel through the area should slow down and follow signs and flaggers, as stated by the City of Portland. Riders should check trimet.org for any transit service impacts.
