The City of Portland is grappling with yet another incidence of fatal violence after a woman was found shot to death in a car in the Northwest area. As per officials, the discovery was made last Saturday afternoon, prompting an active investigation by Portland Police.
Having arrived at the scene between NW 22nd and 23rd on Kearney Street after 5 p.m., officers found Krystal Lynne Pendergraph, 39, dead from a gunshot, as reported by KATU News. Despite the prompt response to the welfare check initiated by witnesses, efforts were in vain as Pendergraph was declared deceased.
With the case being treated as a homicide, the medical examiner has confirmed the cause of death. As it stands, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with Pendergraph's death. The lack of immediate leads has led homicide detectives to call for public assistance to shed light on this tragic event, as noted by KOIN 6 News.
As investigation efforts continue, authorities haven't released additional details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting. Found in a parked car appearing to have been shot, the scene was quickly cordoned off for evidence collection, according to OregonLive.
