The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) and Gainwell Technologies dropped the news recently that on July 23, an uninvited guest dialed into a healthcare provider’s Medicaid billing info. The information potentially exposed includes names, Medicaid IDs, insurance coverages, payment data, and the timeline of medical services provided. The full scoop can be found on DCH's official announcement.
DCH and Gainwell are responding by offering free credit monitoring to those potentially affected by the breach. They have also pledged to protect customer information. Notification letters were sent last Thursday to members who may have been impacted. If no letter was received and there is concern, IDX, the company managing the response, can provide assistance; call 1-833-788-9712.
The unauthorized access may have put Medicaid members’ information at risk, but IDX is handling the situation and working to address any potential privacy issues. IDX can answer questions about the incident and confirm whether information was affected. Members are encouraged to contact IDX for guidance and clarification.
