In a close collaboration with the FBI, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office has thwarted a potential shooting at a local school. Details emerged after the FBI alerted the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office to a credible threat aimed at an unspecified school within the county, according to the official Facebook account of the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office. Upon learning from the FBI, county deputies and investigators moved swiftly on Saturday, sizing the gravity of the situation, and they rooted out a juvenile suspect, a student from Tecumseh Public Schools.
Authorities were able to secure and serve a search warrant at the young individual’s home, where evidence backing the threat was discovered. During questioning, the juvenile suspect confessed to planning to violently engage his school, admitting an intent to "shoot up" the establishment and harm others, as reported by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office.
In response to the investigation’s findings, the suspect has now been charged on multiple counts, including terroristic threats and threatening acts of violence. Additional charges include violating the Computer Crimes Act and possession of obscene materials.
