The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, detailed in a news release, nabbed 53-year-old Michele Peterson, linked to the disappearance of a ring appraised at a whopping $35,000. The item, a wedding ring, belonged to an octogenarian Dewey resident and has fortunately been retrieved through the dedicated efforts of the local detectives.
The case unfolded on September 12, after the Sheriff's Office was alerted to the missing ring, suspected to have vanished two days prior. Peterson, hailing from Prescott, was in the employ of the victim on September 10, the alleged date of the theft. Evidence and online leads guided a YCSO Detective to recover the misplaced treasure and identify Peterson as the suspect. On September 24th, after being located by Detectives, Peterson faced arrest, confronting charges including Theft and Trafficking in Stolen Property, according to the official report.
