The Moraga-Orinda Fire District has scheduled a prescribed fire, intending to burn three acres of land as part of a controlled project designed for ecological preservation and safety enhancement. The burn is set to occur near Ridge Crest Rd, north of Pinehurst Road at the Sogorea Te' Land Trust, and will be carried out today, the Moraga-Orinda Fire District announced.
In collaboration with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and CAL Fire's Santa Clara Unit, the Moraga-Orinda Fire District holds the objective of reviving native vegetation and supporting the local wildlife habitat through the planned burn. Moreover, the fire will serve as a playing ground for the Sogorea Te' Land Trust workers in familiarizing themselves with cultural Rx fire practices.
MOFD has proactively advised residents in the vicinity to shut their doors and windows from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM to minimize smoke intrusion into their homes.
