Redwood City has seen a recent breakthrough in a string of sexual battery incidents with the arrest of a 33-year-old man. Luis Martinez Maldonado, a resident of Redwood City, was apprehended by local police after being caught on video surveillance for an act of sexual battery that transpired yesterday, near Broadway and Jefferson Avenue. According to the Redwood City Police Department's press release, a woman reported being inappropriately touched by Maldonado while he rode past her on his bicycle.
Following the incident, officers patrolled the surrounding area and swiftly disseminated a "Be On the Lookout" alert to track down the suspect further. They eventually spotted someone fitting the description provided on the 1000 block of Middlefield Road. In a statement obtained by the Redwood City Police, Luis Martinez Maldonado was confirmed to be the individual in the surveillance footage and was taken into custody.
Maldonado's arrest is not isolated, as investigators linked him to at least three similar instances of sexual battery dating back to July of this year, all involving women accosted in public spaces. The Police Department has called for any additional victims or individuals with pertinent information to come forward and aid the ongoing investigation.
