
Republican Rep. Rob Hall of Tulsa has been appointed to the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) Board. The appointment was made by Speaker Kyle Hilbert of Bristow. According to an announcement from the Oklahoma House, the appointment was effective immediately, signaling a swift shift towards fortifying OSSM's mission.
Rep. Hall didn't hesitate to quickly affirm his commitment to the organization, pointing out his understanding of the global academic competition. "As we look to a more technologically advanced future and compete on a global academic stage, institutions such as OSSM are critical in producing exceptional experts and professionals who will carry the torch of innovation and advancement," Hall said, in a statement obtained by the Oklahoma House. He also expressed his gratitude towards Speaker Hilbert for the opportunity.
The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) is a residential high school for academically talented students across the state. Since its founding, OSSM has graduated 33 classes, drawing students from all 77 counties. The school offers college-level coursework taught primarily by faculty members holding Ph.D. degrees.
Education has been a part of Hall’s legislative agenda. His appointment to the OSSM board involves contributing to efforts that support Oklahoma students in higher education and professional fields. Hall said, "I am honored to serve in this capacity and thank Speaker Kyle Hilbert for this opportunity to be part of an organization at the forefront of ever-expanding progress," according to a recent Oklahoma House publication.
