Two young men from Richmond were apprehended following a robbery in Burlingame. The incident occurred yesterday, around 4:33 PM, in a parking lot on the 1400 block of Old Bayshore Road. According to the victims' account, both suspects feigned the possession of a firearm under their hoodies. They made off with a backpack and suitcase, as reported by the Burlingame Police Department through a post on their social media.
The getaway car, a black sedan, was last seen heading north on Old Bayshore Boulevard. Utilizing Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology, Burlingame officers followed the trail to San Francisco. The San Francisco Police Department located the vehicle as it entered the highway. In a joint effort with the California Highway Patrol, the pursuit continued westbound on Interstate 580 until reaching Richmond.
Upon detention, the suspects were identified as 19-year-olds Angel Alegrerangel and Gerardo Valenciadiaz, according to the police. A search of the vehicle yielded the victim’s belongings, confirming their involvement in the crime. The Burlingame Police Department took over the case once the suspects were detained in Richmond, ensuring the continuity of the investigation.
Burlingame officers arrested the duo on charges of robbery and conspiracy, and subsequently booked them into the San Mateo County Jail.
