East Carrollton residents, take note: if you're planning to navigate through Willow Street between Lowerline Street and Adams Street, you'll need to adjust your route. According to a notice from the City of New Orleans, this stretch will be off-limits to vehicular traffic from 9 a.m. on Tuesday until the evening of Thursday, October 9, at 6 p.m. A Sewer & Water Board contractor will be executing roadway restoration work while a Department of Public Works contractor is scheduled to perform a water tie-in.
The road closure will facilitate necessary infrastructure improvements, but, it will likely result in some local traffic disruptions. Residents, and commuters are urged "to follow all traffic signage and construction directions" for safety and efficiency during this period. For those in the vicinity, a temporary water line shutdown will affect Adams Street (from Zimple Street to Jeanette Street) and Willow Street (from S Carrollton Avenue to Lowerline Street) on Wednesday, October 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as stated in the official communique, as reported by the City of New Orleans.
The Office of Strategic Engagement advises residents to "run your faucets for 5 minutes to flush out the lines before resuming regular use" once the water is back on. Questions and concerns about this scheduled work can be directed to the Office of Strategic Engagement at 504.658.7623 or via email at [email protected], as per the City of New Orleans.
